SHIAMAK SUMMER FUNK 2016 – RISE OF THE CHAMPIONS

 Tickets sales start on Monday, June 20th @ 9:00 a.m.  

Dance enthusiasts of all ages and from across the Lower Mainland will take the Bell Performing Arts Centre by storm on July 9th, 2016 with Summer Funk – Rise Of The Champions, presented by Shiamak Davar International (Vancouver).  Summer Funk is a celebratory culmination of a unique twelve-week recreational dance workshop offered by Shiamak’s instructors in North Vancouver, Vancouver, Downtown, Richmond, Surrey, and Burnaby.  This year’s revelry brings together a talented group of dance devotees, ages four to sixty-four, to share a memorable selection of Shiamak’s trademark Bollywood Jazz songs and dance.  This year’s Summer Funk theme “Rise Of The Champions” gives students an opportunity to unite, build team spirit, train, work together to design creative costumes, and properties, and finally compete on stage at the Summer Funk show!

“Over the years, I’ve seen Vancouver’s interest in Bollywood Jazz grow tremendously,” says Shiamak Davar, Founder and Artistic Director of Shiamak Davar International.  “Vancouver is like home to me, and I am humbled by the enthusiasm and response our Summer Funk workshops receive from participants throughout the Lower Mainland.  This event offers a rare opportunity to see parents and their children, as well as couples and friends perform together like stars on a professional stage in front of a huge – thousand plus – audience.  It’s what makes this event so special – for both audiences and performers alike.”
